That could be set to change as renders courtesy of industry leaker OnLeaks (via 91Mobiles) that show what he claims is a lower-spec upcoming OnePlus phone, for context referred to as the OnePlus 8 Lite. The images show renders based on leaked sources that give the OnePlus 8 Lite a central single camera cut-out, a flat 6.4in or 6.5in display with more chin bezel than at the top, and dual cameras on the back. There is no headphone jack (as with all recent OnePlus phones) but the excellent three-stage Alert Slider remains. There is no spec information aside from alleged dimensions of 159.2 x 74 x 8.6mm. The absence of a physical fingerprint sensor means there will likely be an in-display fingerprint sensor – meaning the phone must have an OLED screen. We aren’t certain this is an accurate leak given OnePlus has only just started producing two flagships every six months (a regular and a Pro model) and the fact the OnePlus X was a relative failure. But the company is the smartphone industry’s latest big success story, so a mid-range phone could be a possibility and might prove very popular in India where OnePlus is huge. If the OnePlus 8 Lite turns out to be real, it might not see the light of day in the US market, where the OnePlus 7T Pro isn’t even on sale. Fingers crossed it makes it to the UK and Europe.
